Biodiversity

The WWF Oasis La Malcontenta e il Lupo stands on a property of about 15 hectares, which also includes the organic farm that produces extra virgin olive oil and truffles.

There are several environments that make up the Oasis: in addition to the olive grove and the truffle ground, there are woods left to their natural evolution, rare environments because they are not subject to human intervention, and thus promote biodiversity.

The particular attention to habitat conservation has made possible the existence of many species of wild orchids. Every part of the property, both the productive and the non-productive areas, is subject to constant monitoring, and its appearance, at times "wild," is the result of a conservation program that promotes biodiversity and the development of the animal species present.

Buzzard (Buteo buteo), black kite (Milvus migrans), little owl (Athene noctua), barn owl (Tyto alba), tawny owl (Strix aluco), wild boar (Sus scrofa), porcupine (Hystrix cristata), badger (Meles meles), beech marten (Martes foina), marten (Martes martes), hare (Lepus europaeus), fox (Vulpes vulpes) and who knows... maybe finally even the wolf (Canis lupus), are just some of the species that live in this area.

Animals are elusive by nature, and it is difficult to see them, but they are present around the farmhouse. Silent and cautious, often they are the ones observing us rather than the other way around. You should never approach them, but respect them in their environment.

"La Malcontenta e il Lupo" was created to appreciate nature and the animal world and to learn to know them. It is a stay in nature and a suspension of time.
